Þorgerður Jörundsdóttir graduated from the Department of Sculpture at the Icelandic School of Fine Arts and Crafts in 1999 and received a BA in Philosophy from the University of Iceland in 1995.

In her work, she deals with the biological diversity of nature in times of catastrophic warming. She is fascinated by natural forms in all their diversity. We who belong to the human race are prone to forget that we are part of this flora of species. Climate change, the death of the species, and our relationship with nature in the past, present, and future are extremely important to us humans, yet we feel a deep resistance and reluctance to accept our creation and destiny. We thus live in an imaginary reality and an imaginary relationship with nature. On the one hand, we believe that we dominate nature and can control it, but on the other hand, we are just as subject to its whims as other animal species.
